The US Army is giving its soldiers a high-tech edge in the fight against drones, and it’s called SMASH. JERUSALEM — The US Army is expanding its experimentation with Israeli firm Smartshooter’s high-tech fire control system with what the company said is a new $13 million contract. The system will be deployed “as part of the Army’s Transformation in Contact (TIC2.0) forces,” Smartshooter said in an announcement last week, part of what it said was the Army’s “accelerated testing and integration of advanced technologies on the battlefield.”

After reprogramming at least USD10 million from its air-defence portfolio, the US Marine Corps (USMC) is buying 84 kits of Smart Shooter fire-control system SMASH 2000L as an interim capability for its dismounted counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs) requirement, a service official told Janes on 30 April.

The SMASH 3000 (2000L) by Israel’s SMARTSHOOTER is an advanced AI-equipped optical sight that can be mounted on most rifles. It features sophisticated target acquisition and tracking algorithms, achieving a 95% hit probability against small drones at a distance of approximately 200 meters.

One easy and somewhat revolutionary way to enable the dismounted digger to deal with drones is through a fire control sight upgrade offered by Israeli company SMARTSHOOTER.

Smartshooter, which develops and manufactures the Smash series of smart fire control systems, which connects to light weapons and dramatically improves the chances of hitting targets, has announced another major deal with Germany. In the deal, the company will deliver hundreds more of the Smash systems to the German army.

SMARTSHOOTER will participate at the Modern-Day Marine event and showcase its SMASH 2000L, already under review by the Marine Corps, and the SMASH Hopper Light Remotely Controlled Weapon Station (LRCWS) integrated with the DRS RADA Technologies RPS-42 radar and mounted on HDT’s Hunter WOLF.

Soldiers have been taking aim with a new scope that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to shoot drones out of the sky. Paratroopers from 16 Air Assault Brigade in Colchester, became the first to be issued with SmartShooter SMASH technology this week.

From statements given by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, it appears that IDF infantry units operating and fighting in the Gaza Strip make extensive use of the Smash sight manufactured by the Israeli company Smart Shooter.
